It’s often a criticism of those who favor public financing of sports arenas that they cite numbers when times are good and expect them to continue.  I wonder if the singling out of the Twin Cities as a place with “Arena Glut” would have such a strong case if the basketball team could win consistently, or have an identifiable star, or not threaten to move.  The Target Center is located near a bunch of night spots, theaters (live and projection), major business towers, and even a couple of college campuses.  I have to think the Target Center would do well  if they had a wining season for the Wolves, a decent economy, and highways that haven’t all been torn apart so that only half a lane is functional.  Yes, they have not been doing that lately, but that’s what happens when you late Kevin McHale run your team forever… as a long term investment, the Target Center is yet to prove itself as unwise.
